Training
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.
What do drivers get out of this?
Drivers who successfully complete the MIDAS assessment and training programme will receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for 4 years.
There are two types of certificate:
The Standard programme (1day) is for all minibus drivers, whilst the Accessible programme (1.5 days) is for those drivers who transport clients in wheelchairs and use vehicle ramps or passenger lifts.
WATBus can provide training for both types of certificate.
Potential Benefits of MiDAS
1. enhanced passenger safety
2. improved passenger comfort
3. increased driver confidence
4. reduced driver stress
5. potential reduction in vehicle operating costs
6. enhancement of the operating organisations image
7. generally an overall better image for minibuses and their drivers
Drivers MUST be over 21 years of age and have held a valid UK licence for at least 2 years.
There are also restrictions on which vehicle drivers can drive depending on what categories they have on their driving licence.
We run these training programmes on a regular basis, see this link MIDAS training dates January – March 2012
